WORLDWIDE ONLINE FESTIVAL
As a facet of its animation outreach initiative, DRAWASSIC is promoting its own animation festival - dedicated to all forms of animation but with a special affection for traditional 2D animation. The "2D OR NOT 2D Animation Festival" festival ran very successfully for 5 years until it had to cease more recently when it lost its main sponsor at the time. However now it is back with vengeance and will hold its re-launched final award ceremony event - streamed live to the internet - in January 2016. The Seattle-based festival gives away its prestigious "Golden Pencil Awards" to all category winners - plus a special award, "The Roy E Disney Award", given to the person or organization the festival feels has made the greatest contribution to traditional animation in the previous year. Previous winners include the late, great Roy E Disney himself (presented to him when he kindly opened the inaugural festival many years ago in Everett's 'Historic Theater'), Tomm Moore and Richard Williams. Entries are now open for the 2016 awards event via our website. Filmfreeway
